yeah, it's just a trail run, but sometimes you takes what you gets. if anyone is in the mid-atlantic area, i really have to recommend putting this one on your calendar for next year, if just for the swag. it's a 15k or 30k (dos loops) trail run on some absolutely fantastic trails in the michaux forest, just north of gettysburg, pennsylvania. the race is held in conjunction with the Iron Cross cyclocross race, which claims to be the longest cyclocross race in the country. the trails are rocky, and the course has one serious climb at the ~2 mile point; very steep and about half-a-mile long. there are some log and stream crossings to keep it interesting. nice run. i did the 15k in 1:40 and finished somewhere in the back, i'm happy with it though.
the swag? well, you got yer event t-shirt, as with any respectable event. it's not dri-fit or anything :(, and it's white, but it's okay. i was suprised by the Iron Cross pint glass though, very nice. what else? a nice pair of Iron Cross cycling socks by Sock Guy for finishing. all told, that's easily worth my $40. in addition though, they served donuts and coffee in the morning, and lunch was fresh BBQ catered by Memphis Blues.
